Obama, Kerry not outmaneuvered by Iran

I keep hearing from members of Congress, pundits and analysts that Barack Obama and John Kerry were outsmarted and outmaneuvered by Iran in their nuclear negotiations.
That conclusion is as wrong and foolish as was this nuclear deal struck by the administration.
The deal Obama and Kerry wanted was exactly the deal they got.
The objective for Obama and Kerry was never about stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons. At best it was about kicking the can down the road so it was a crisis that wouldn't blow up in their faces during their time in office.
How do I know this?
Because I remember what John Kerry was saying about dealing with Iran when he was running for president in 2004. What he was proposing then was exactly the outcome he achieved in 2015.
Obama and Kerry come from the school of thought that diplomacy is not a means to an end, it is the end.
At the end of the day, for Obama and Kerry, it is not about stopping Iran's nuclear program. It is about buying time. And they bought time - literally bought it - so Iran doesn't nuke us for 18 months.
What do I mean by "literally bought"?
That's what the $18 billion dollars in sanctions relief is all about - $1 billion for every month left in in the Obama administration, exactly.
Has anyone else noticed that number?
It's $1 billion a month through January 2017 when the Obama administration is finished.
That was their objective all along: To get a deal that would not backfire on Obama until he is out of office. Whatever happens after that doesn't really matter.
To say Obama and Kerry were outmaneuvered is to miss the point. Both sides in these negotiations achieved their objectives. The Iranians got validation of their nuclear program. They even got funding for it. And Obama and Kerry got a deal - one that serves their personal political interests at the expense of the nation's security and the stability of the Middle East.
If you thought this was about stopping the nuclear arms race in the Middle East, you miss the point.
This deal just lit the fuse on the nuclear arms race.
Now that the U.S. is perceived as not only validating Iran's nuclear arms race but subsidizing it, you can rest assured neighboring Arab countries will be pursuing their own nuclear arms to protect themselves from annihilation.
They might even recognize the obvious lesson to be learned by the Obama-Kerry deal: If you start pursuing nuclear weapons, not only will you get the green-light from the U.S. in negotiations, but you will even get them to foot the bill.
I know this analysis is not what you are reading and hearing from the establishment corporate press - or even from some of the deal's most vociferous critics - but it's the truth. This is the reality. It's a much worse deal than most anyone imagines - and that's apart from what it might mean to our most important ally in the region, Israel.
To say this deal represents something of a slow, drawn-out suicide pact for the U.S. would not be an exaggeration.
But this deal was not worked out with the long-term national security interests of the U.S. in mind. It was worked out with the short-term personal and political interests of Obama and Kerry in mind.
It's just that simple.
It's just that unconscionable.
It's just that insane.
It's just that revolting.
It's just than unbelievable.
It's just that incomprehensible.
The truth is stranger than any fiction you could imagine.
The reality is stranger than the misperception of motives.
