Truth . . Forgiveness . . Humility . . Health

It is time to face the facts and

     to chart our course.

There has been a century of lies, and we are paying the piper.

The cost has been, and is, horrendous.

Consider the following quotations:

"If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything."

Mark Twain

"I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you."

Friedrich Nietzsche

"There are three types of lies -- lies, damn lies, and statistics."

Benjamin Disraeli

"Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love."

Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

"It is an occupational hazard that anyone who has spent her life learning how to lie eventually becomes bad at telling the truth."

Ally Carter, Heist Society

"If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed."

Adolf Hitler

"Things come apart so easily when they have been held together with lies."

Dorothy Allison, Bastard Out of Carolina

"Oh, what a tangled web we weave...when first we practice to deceive."

Walter Scott, Marmion

"A half-truth is the most cowardly of lies."

Mark Twain

"We're going to have to let truth scream louder to our souls than the lies that have infected us."

Beth Moore, So Long, Insecurity: You've Been A Bad Friend To Us

"Everything the State says is a lie, and everything it has it has stolen."

Friedrich Nietzsche

"Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides."

André Malraux

"I'd rather hear an ugly truth, rather than an obscure lie."

Ana Monnar

"Don't spoil me with your lies, love me with your truth."

T.F. Hodge

"Isn't it funny how we live inside the lies we believe?"

A.S. King

"The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself."

Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

"Once you place that crown of liar on your head, you can take it off again, but it leaves a stain for all time."

Terry Goodkind, Soul of the Fire

"Humility is nothing but truth, and pride is nothing but lying."

St. Vincent de Paul

"The Devil hath power to assume a pleasing shape."

William Shakespeare, Hamlet

"People never lie so much as before an election, during a war, or after a hunt."

Otto von Bismarck

"His whole life was a sham, a fairy tale. The truth hidden behind a wall of lies, each lie another brick in the wall until he probably couldn't see the truth anymore."

Shaun Jeffrey, The Kult

"The worst lies in life are the ones we tell ourselves."

Brad Meltzer, The Inner Circle

"In this age, lies were the universal lubricant of the culture. A love of Truth and commitment to it were seldom rewarded and were often punished."

Dean Koontz, Breathless

"Isn't strength the ability to renounce every lie in your heart?"

Bisco Hatori

"Truth is confirmed by inspection and delay; falsehood by haste and uncertainty."

Tacitus

"The most dangerous of all falsehoods is a slightly distorted truth."

Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, The Waste Books

"A bitter reality of truth can be wisely told in a sweet tale of lullaby."

Toba Beta, My Ancestor Was an Ancient Astronaut

"(World War I) was the most colossal, murderous, mismanaged butchery that has ever taken place on earth. Any writer who said otherwise lied, So the writers either wrote propaganda, shut up, or fought."

Ernest Hemingway

"There can be no liberty for a community which lacks the means by which to detect lies."

Walter Lippmann

T R U T H   I S   T H E   A N T I D O T E !

ONLY THE LOVE AND MERCY OF GOD

   CAN SAVE AMERICA.

LET US GO TO OUR KNEES THEN,

  TO HUMBLE OURSELVES AND PRAY.

WHEN WE DO, OUR HEAVENLY FATHER WILL HEAR US,

FOR HIS MERCY IS GREATER THAN OUR SIN.
